A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

We made it to the Christmas break. The Club has lots of new players and is running an incredible 7 teams at the moment, with other competitions to launch in the New Year. Whilst challenging administratively, it is great to see so many of you involved and in the teams.

A big shout out to the Captains and players for making this work.

Club Championship

As per the WhatsApp message from Nigel, details of the Club Championship are out. For those who signed up and have not seen the information, please check here:

Leagues

Huddersfield Knights are top (well the LMS is not up to date but we are) of the Watkinson’s League, followed by David Browns and the Bishops, with 2 games left to play. The Rooks are presently 3rd in the league with 3 matches left to play from the 9th January.

The Calderdale League is where the bulk of our games are now. In Division 1 the A team are now 4th, after a very rocky start. This is followed by the B team in 6th place, above the relegation zone. The C team in Division 2 is chasing promotion in 3rd, although I am not sure if we can support 3 teams in Division 1!

There are still quite a few games left to play in this league, with a few postponements meaning reschedules in the New Year. I am still bemused by Hebden Bridge accidently sending 2 of our teams to a Pagan Meeting at the Golden Lion.

The Saturday Team, led by the excellent Leo Keely are pushing promotion back to the Woodhouse Cup!

Events

A big shout out to those organising events at the Club. We have the annual Blitz, won by Mitchell Burke. There was also Greg’s simultaneous, where he was slightly horrified to see the number of 170 – 200 graded players turning up.

Rob – your mum’s mince pies were excellent!
